Cleanse your home...stat!
Do you feel that your home is in need of a spiritual cleanse?
When you've had arguments, violence, depression, jealousy, betrayal, heartbreak, or maybe miserable people in your home, it is best to do a cleanse of your space. Your home is supposed to be your place of solace so it is in your best interest to protect your home for you and even your children's sake. That left over energy from your visitors and even from YOURSELF and family can be negatively effect thoughts and emotions. Also, cleansing is necessary when moving into a new environment. You never know what energy residue is still present in your home from prior inhabitants.
Remember energy never dies, but it can transfer and transform.
What is needed to do the cleanse?
Sage is a great way to cleanse your home. Sage actually changes the ionic composition of the air by releasing negative ions, which has been linked to improved and positive moods. Also, negative ions are none to clear the air of bacteria, odors, pollen, etc. Sage sticks can be found at Whole Foods, health food stores, metaphysical stores, and online.
The act of using a sage stick to cleanse your home is called smudging. The smoke and your positive affirmations rids your home of negative energy. You can even use a sage stick to cleanse yourself by lighting one end of the sage stick so that it can smolder and then by fanning the smoke towards you. Also, you can move the stick in a clockwise motion over each Chakra. Be sure not to make physical contact with the lit part of the stick so you won't burn yourself. You can do the same for your hands, arms, feet, etc. You can cleanse your family if you would like.
How to cleanse your home?
-Open a window in the rooms you are smudging so the smoke and bad energy has an exit.
-You may want to take a heat resistant bowl around with you so that it can catch the ashes that fall from the sage stick, especially if you have carpet.
-Light one end of the sage stick so that it will smolder and give off enough smoke. You don't want to light the entire stick on fire.
-In every room move your wrist up and down or fan the smoke without touching the walls or fabrics. -Make sure you get doorways, corners, closets, and cabinets. The last three tend to trap energy. -You can smudge around your couch, chairs, bed, etc.
-As you are smudging you can say prayers, mantras, or positive affirmations. Examples below:
-To extinguish the sage you can roll the lit end in sand until it is out. I've grind the lit end in a bowl, without sand, to extinguish it as well. If for some reason you have to wet the sage tick to extinguish it, just know that it will have to be completely dry again before you can use it.
